While I have been aware of Oris, I had not actually handled one in person (let alone wore it) prior to this review.
I was talking with my friend William about various GMT watches out there, and he suggested I take a look at Oris.
As part of the new Pro Pilot collection and as the latest addition to the Big Crown family, new Oris Big Crown Pro Pilot Day Date shows also that it has what it takes, in other words it belongs to the skies. Each of the Oris Big Crown Pro Pilot watches has a great looking steel case with a sort of knurled-style bezel and matching caseback bezel (what would you call that texture? The dials are beautifully functional, and I can easily say that they are so attractive because they are so utilitarian, with their high-contrast numerals and lack of decorative nonsense. For the Big Crown Pro Pilot Chronograph GMT, Oris needed to contend with a lot of information on the dial.A movement that guarantees reliability and precision. The watch is also water-resistant to 100 metres/330 feet.Oris have several decades of experience to know what pilots demands of a timepiece, the Oris Big Crown Pro Pilot Day Date is simply designed with accuracy and functionality. The pilot’s need for minimal distraction whilst in command, enhanced legibility forms the foundation of the Oris Big Crown Pro Pilot Day Date’s unique design. What is new for Oris about the Big Crown Pro Pilot watches? In a sense, the Big Crown Pro Pilot collection is a more modern take on the more vintage-themed Big Crown collection of pilot watches. While each of these watches is meant for the same purpose, the Pro Pilot is going to have a different dial, case, and handset. To be honest it is difficult to choose which is better because neither is. To make things a bit more complex there are already the modern looking Oris BC3 and BC4 collection of pilot watches.
